As another challenging but successful year has come to an end, we are entering a new phase for the business. We have decided to sell our tracked window sample rig to concentrate more of our energy on road and structural coring. We will still offer hand held window sampling and environmental sampling. We will be working closely with the new rig owners Island Soils Ltd to provide us with a broad range of services. We are delighted to say we have reinvested money back into the business to purchase two new vans and a new coring rig which gives us good foundations for the future. December 2010 As we move into a new season we are all aware market conditions still prove to be challenging with government financial cuts starting to affect everyone. Local authorities are looking to make efficiency cuts which has benefitted iDrill+ Ltd. Due to our very competitive pricing policy and industry leading highly efficient working practices we have found we are busier than ever! We are finding more local authorities requesting PAH testing on road cores to establish the presence of tar. Road coverings have traditionally used a resilient material referred to as Asphalt, Tarmac or Bituminous Macadam. Initially the binder used was manufactured from Coal Tar Pitch, a by-product from coal carbonisation and in later years this was replaced by petroleum derived asphalt. They are made up of a complex mixture of compounds, many of which are toxic. With increasing waste disposal costs, the type of binder needs to be established prior to disposal or reuse, as bituminous mixtures containing Coal Tar are classified as hazardous. Failure to do so can lead to some pretty large fines being issued. Please see under the documents tab the County Surveyors Guidance Note. |
